Job Summary: The
Project Engineer for the Educate a Child For The Out Of School Children (EAAF
& KOICA) Project in Karamoja Region will supervise and monitor the
technical aspects of all construction works ensuring quality implementation off
all classroom and staff houses construction as guided by the WV construction
Engineer and in line with guidelines from the ministry of Education and Sports.
The position holder is responsible for providing technical supervision to
ensure quality construction and value for money. The incumbent will be required
to participate in the daily implementation of the above components of the EAAF
& KOICA project, providing an insight into gender sensitivity as well as
assisting to see that the activities are implemented in an all in all
inclusive, timely and participatory manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        
Carry
out verification/ assessment of school infrastructure needs in the districts;
·        
Ensure
timely development and submission of project BOQs;
·        
Conduct
community mobilization to participate in school infrastructure development to
ensure ownership of these facilities;
·        
Supervise
and monitor the technical aspects of construction ensuring quality implementation
of the projects in line with the standards in the Building Bills of Quantities;
·        
Actively
facilitate formation and training of SMC and PTAs;
·        
Support
the procurement process of contractors in line with the construction Engineer
and in accordance with WV procurement guidelines;
·        
Take
part in routine supervision of contractors and ensure that certificates of
completion are available for payments of works done;
·        
Write
and submit periodic project reports to the project coordinator and the
construction Engineer;
·        
Support
WASH Project activities in Sub-county i.e Child-to-Child approach, SMC/ PTA
trainings, etc.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant for the World Vision Project Engineer job opportunity should
hold a Diploma in Civil Engineering;
·        
Background
in humanitarian work especially in NGO settings;
·        
Familiarity
with WASH intervention is an added advantage
·        
Computer
literacy skills
·        
Must
be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
