General Manager
Uganda with primary objective of providing affordable premium content to
audiences across Africa. Our mission is to create world class channels that
enable Ugandans to access top-notch programming, easily and freely.
Ensures
program quality for broadcast by deciding whether program tape or film is
technically acceptable.
Takes
part in program acquisition by recommending suitable programs for purchase.
Prepares
and updates weekly/monthly program schedule by establishing program
availability and determining the best time to air.
Responds
to viewers’ questions, comments and/ or complaints regarding television
programming/ scheduling
The
incumbent coordinates broadcast traffic and logging activities as it relates to
program scheduling.
Develops
alternatives to planned schedule: authorizes last minute changes and replaces
material.
The
incumbent confers with promotional department to discuss content of programs
scheduled to air: determines which programs to promote.
Operates
computer in order to maintain and update the program schedule
Ensures
compliance with local and Uganda regulatory agencies in broadcasting; i.e., UCC
rules governing broadcasting.
Previews
and evaluates local, unsolicited independent, regional and television programs
to determine appropriateness for station usage.
Create
new programmes and new ideas to make the existing ones better
Organize
filming assignments for different programmes with the producers.
Assist
with the week’s scripts of different programmes
Actively
participate in the editing of all shows that are aired on TV
Champion
any direct filming in the field on different occasions for new programmes and
Demos.
Plan
for the whole departments’ assignments.
The
ideal candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication with a bias
in Television Productions or a Master’s Degree in Film productions.
A
minimum eight years’ experience in related in film production or industry
Knowledge
in sports broadcasting will be an added advantage
Knowledge
of broadcasting rules and regulations (UCC).
Broad
knowledge of broadcast scheduling techniques.
Skills
and experience in broadcast program evaluation.
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills
Prior
experience in film/TV production
Broad
knowledge and understanding of the production processes
