and rights, youth civic participation and youth employment and livelihoods.
Job Summary: The Graduate
Intern, Monitoring & Evaluation assists the M&E Coordinator and M&E
Officer to administer M&E systems for Restless Development and will be
based full time in Jinja head office with some travel to rural communities.
Responsible for systems and tools development, data entry, cleaning, analysis
and report writing for all programs based in Kampala while liaising with
programme implementing teams
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
Ensure accurate and efficient Data collection, entry, filing, cleaning,
interpretation and report writing, validation and dissemination of findings
from M&E activities: 40%
  • Lead tool design and data collection for
    project activities
  • Lead the entry of all data for monitoring
    and evaluation activities in line with Restless Development reporting
    frameworks e.g. evaluation surveys, and support the staff in entering the
    volunteer data Lead in the timely donor data entry and cleaning data.
  • Ensure data integrity through cleaning and
    vetting of data once entered by the data entry interns and staff.
  • Ensure proper filing of data in soft and
    hard copy by designing hard filing system for all programmes
  • Ensure, cleaning and storage are
    appropriately implemented by Restless Development staff and volunteers
  • With M&E unit staff, provide timely
    feedback to the programme team regarding the quality of M&E data
Support the development and implementation of appropriate M&E
systems, indicators and tools across Restless Development Uganda: 20 %
  • Review, development and implementation of
    Restless Development Uganda’s log frame, systems and tools to ensure
    programmes are being monitored and evaluated effectively, efficiently and
    in line with national strategies and donor requirements
  • Share and remain up-to-date with national
    and international best-practice in monitoring and evaluation, particularly
    with regard to national strategic plans with the rest of the staff
  • Implement routine M&E Field visits to
    verify programme interventions, obtain data from the field for programme
    quality and to engage stakeholders in M&E
  • Actively participate in weekly programme
    and planning meetings to ensure that results of data analysis inform
    programme decision making.
Support the dissemination of monitoring and evaluation data and reports
internally and externally Duties:
20%
  • Support the Programs Officer/Coordinator
    to:
  • Ensure appropriate internal communication
    and feedback systems are in place and functioning so that M&E informs
    programme planning and implementation
  • Support the M&E unit in providing
    appropriate data for staff, , in the dissemination of data internally and
    externally
  • Ensure effective and efficient management
    of monitoring and evaluation data for specific donor relationships
  • Assist in joint initial analysis of
    evaluation survey data and drafting the annual impact evaluation report
  • Ensure regular updated M&E office
    displays for internal M&E data dissemination
Support the Capacity building of Restless Development Uganda staff and
peer educators in M&E Duties: 10 %
  • Ensure that all, temporary staff
    (interns/field researchers) have the capacity to conduct fieldwork,
    coordinate output monitoring tools, analyse basic monitoring data and
    present findings
  • Support in development and delivery of the
    M&E volunteer training module for Initial Training and MPW
  • Support in training of relevant staff in
    monitoring and evaluation whenever necessary.
  • Cost-effective and transparent financial
    management: 5%
  • Adhere to Restless Development Uganda
    financial policies in all aspects of work
  • Managing activity budgets for M&E unit
    activities such as the Evaluation task team, volunteer debrief and
    trainings
Other Duties: 5%
  • Represent Restless Development to partners
    and donors at meetings and during field visits
  • Other duties as required, sometimes
    requiring work on weekends, for which time off in lieu can be taken
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicants for the Restless
    Development Graduate Intern, Monitoring & Evaluation should possess a  University degree/diploma in relevant
    field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • At least six months M&E experience
    interning /volunteering in development sector/NGO/Government
  • Extensive knowledge of Computer
    Applications-IT, especially Word, Access, Powerpoint, and Excel.
  • Good data analysis and management skills
    with experience using computer based data analysis software i.e. SPSS,
    STATA, Epidata, EpiInfo, NVIVO, Atlas ti preferred.
  • Excellent organisational skills and
    methodological approach to financial management
  • Fluency in English with exceptional
    written and verbal communication skills
  • Show personal commitment to the values,
    aims and methods of Restless Development
  • Ability to travel regularly to rural areas
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication
    skills
  • Ability to analyse problems and make sound
    operational decisions
  • Passion, enthusiasm and interest in
    Restless Development’s mission, honest and trustworthy, willing to engage
    and support non-financial activities
  • Prior experience in entering and managing
    data, finances and/or administrative systems is desired
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    contemporary development issues particularly of Peace Building, Sexual
    Reproductive Health, Livelihoods, and Youth Inclusion
  • Previous experience working in a youthful,
    multicultural environment
  • Experience as a volunteer with Restless
    Development or other organisation
