founded in 1962, is today one of the biggest non-governmental aid and
development agencies in Germany. We campaign against worldwide hunger and for
sustainable food and nutrition security by promoting site-appropriate farming,
establishing access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene, improving
healthcare and education for people living in rural areas.
March 2015 to implement a 39 month project “RIAS – Strengthen Resilience
through Infrastructure, Agriculture and Skills in West Nile” which is expected
to run up-to August 2018.
Farmer Field School Coordinator will provide extension support to the
facilitators and farmers on general production activities including on the assorted
vegetables, food and nutrition. The incumbent will also ensure that project
agricultural activities are implemented in the best agronomic practices.
Formulate
strategies for effective and productive implementation of livelihood activities
Work
closely with farmers to implement and facilitate agricultural development
activities in the Farmer Field Schools and lead the extension workers in
establishment of study and commercial plots.
Representing
Welthungerhilfe in livelihood sector meetings in Bidibidi refugee settlement,
and any other livelihood meetings called by partners or Yumbe local government.
Ensure
the timely presentation of progress reports to the Project Coordinator in Yumbe
Support
management on planning, monitoring and evaluation process.
The
ideal candidate must hold a good university degree in Agriculture,
Agri-business from a recognized institution.
At
least five years’ experience in community based agricultural projects and
working in the refugee context.
Excellent
report writing skills.
Computer
literacy i.e. proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Excellent
written and spoken English;
Possess
a valid motorcycle driving license.
Knowledge
of Farmer Field School approach is desirable.
Knowledge
on food and nutrition programming is highly regarded.
Must
be willing to work and reside in Yumbe.
Fluency
in Madi, Kakua or Arabic is an added advantage.
