prevention, malaria and child survival, maternal and reproductive health, and
access to safe water. Formerly PSI Uganda, PACE was re-branded in 2009 to
strengthen the implementation of health interventions in the local Ugandan
context and remains an active and vibrant member of the PSI worldwide network.
PACE works in collaboration with the Government of Uganda, implementing
partners with the Ministry of Health, district local governments, and national
and community-based organizations (CBOs) to implement its programs.
Trade Development Officer will plan, implement, and monitor innovative sales,
marketing, and distribution activities to drive sales growth for PACE’s
products. The fellow will develop solutions that aim to resonate strongly with
customer needs and thereby enhance the organization’s progress toward achieving
sales targets in social franchise health facilities. In addition, the incumbent
will manage the supply chain through ordering and distribution of family
planning commodities and promotional materials across key accounts,
institutions, and other customers in the region.
Responsibilities:
- Manage organizational sales and marketing
goals - Develop and submit monthly, quarterly, and
annual work plans and budgets for product sales and marketing - Drive growth toward sales and distribution
targets - Prepare and submit reports against set
objectives and analyze key factors influencing sales - Send quarterly updates on the key accounts
performance, competition, challenges, and opportunities - Build and manage partnerships with the
goal to promote and sell PACE products - Develop and maintain relationships with
all key accounts, institutions, and other customers - Ensure each key account is well-serviced
with all relevant PACE products to avoid stock-outs - Actively participate in reproductive
health commodity security meetings with Ministry of Health - Design strategic marketing campaigns to
grow demand - Identify ideal displays for supermarkets,
negotiate space with owners, and create interactive displays - Formulate and execute annual promotional
plans for all key accounts - Ensure strong product visibility and
availability in all supermarkets and convenience stores - Manage the PACE supply chain
- Manage ordering and distribution of
products - Reconcile commodities and promotional
materials to key accounts, institutions, and other customers in the region - Capacity building and risk management
- Build capacity (through mentoring,
coaching, and on-the-job training) of key accounts and internal staff to
equip others with skills to better understand our products - Ensure that all customers pay as per the
PACE payment policy
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Global Health
Corps Sales and Trade Development Officer - job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree
in sales, business administration, commerce, marketing, or related field - Prior experience in sales-related field;
experience with the private sector is preferred, with accountability for
achieving monthly sales targets - Valid national driving license with
demonstrated ability to drive is a MUST - High entrepreneurial spirit
- Excellent track record of meeting sales
goals, sales motivation, and territory management - Presentation skills
- Ability to build relationships effectively
- Good negotiation skills
- Results-driven approach
- Previous experience with sales planning
and managing profitability - Prior exposure and experience in marketing
or communications - Excellent organizational and time
management skills - Effective oral and written communication
skills - Problem solver and team player
- Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
in Microsoft Office and Windows applications - Must have an outgoing attitude and be
energetic, positive, and fun!
Fellows will be provided with housing, health insurance and a living stipend of
$550/month. Additionally, fellows will receive an award of $1500 upon
successful completion of the fellowship year. Flights to and from the placement
site and all other costs associated with GHC programming are included, including
$600 in professional development funds. Fellows at PACE are provided with a
basic but comfortable private apartment, situated in Kampala, an urban center
and capital of Uganda. National fellows may have the option to remain in their
own housing and receive a supplemental housing stipend.
