About US:
The Inter University Council
for East Africa (IUCEA) is a strategic institution of the East African
Community (EAC) responsible for coordinating the development of human resources
and research in the region.  IUCEA is
charged with a number of responsibilities among them being to coordinate academic
and research activities jointly undertaken by Partner states and member
university institutions.  The main
objectives of IUCEA are to (i) facilitate networking among universities in East
Africa, and with universities outside the region; (ii) provide a forum for
discussion on a wide range of academic and other matters relating to higher
education in East Africa; and (iii) facilitate maintenance of internationally
comparable education standards in East Africa so as to promote the region’s
global competitiveness in higher education.
Job Summary:  The Driver operates and keeps custody of a
vehicle assigned to assure safe transportation of clients to and from various
destinations and to assist clients on entry and exit from vehicles as
necessary.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        
The
jobholder will drive IUCEA Staff and Clients
·        
The
incumbent will operate assigned vehicle/s in a safe and courteous manner and in
line with laid down IUCEA regulations, traffic rules and regulations
·        
Maintain
accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, customer transportation forms,
vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports accident reports, vehicle
condition reports and other records that are requested by the management
·        
The
jobholder will also maintain the vehicle in clean condition all the times
·        
Carry
out minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) and report defect for
servicing on time
·        
Quickly
respond immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency
response providers, and rendering First Aid until emergency personnel arrive
·        
Conduct
simple mechanical repairs
·        
Perform
any other duties as may be assigned by the Management from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·        
The
applicant must hold an O’ Level certificate in addition to Certificate of a
Suitability Test for Drivers, Certificate of Occupational Test for
Drivers/plant operator grade -I and First Aid Certificate from a recognized
institution like St. John’s Ambulance or AA. MUST have a valid driving license.
·        
At
least five years of driving experience in a reputable Organisation.
·        
Ability
to drive a vehicle safely and appropriately, including ability to read and
interpret road signs in English and Kiswahili;
·        
Ability
to read, understand, and adhere to Traffics rules and regulations of the
Partner States; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
·        
Demonstrated
ability to establish effective professional relationships with customers,
co-workers, and upper level staff and employees; ability to prepare concise and
accurate records and reports;
·        
Extensive
knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s);
·        
Demonstrated
ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs: ability to perform minor vehicle
repairs; interpret maps, and route directions;
·        
Ability
to administer First Aid.
·        
Age
Limit:
Below 50
years.
