Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC)
and Western Region, Uganda
Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC
conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 150 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of health
sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
health.
- Receive
office supplies from Kampala; record, store and monitor the usage of these
supplies in collaboration with the Administrator - Actively
participate in store management of office supplies and equipment in
collaboration with the Administrator. - Organize
supplies for the study teams before they set off for the field. - Participate
in organizing of logistics including transportation for the field staff
ahead of field work in collaboration with the study coordinators. - Safely
ensure storage of the study equipment including tablet computers, GPS
receivers, and other field accessories at the end of the work day, and to
ensure that these are serviced and repaired as required. - Photocopying
and printing of all necessary fieldwork tools/appendices - In
charge of the maintenance of field office cleanliness etc - Participate
in the charging and maintenance of electrical equipment such as tablet
computers, GPS receivers, and the generator and inventory during power
outages. - Work
with the study team in filing of paper records, reporting shortages of
forms and ordering for more paper forms as required. - Help
to load and off load office supplies/equipment. - Take
part in regular team meetings.
- The
applicants for the Office Assistant jobs should hold Diplomas in Stores
Management or a Uganda Diploma in Business Studies - Previous
experience in a similar position - Willing
to be based up-country in Eastern or Western Uganda for the duration of
the study - Ability
to speak at least one language commonly used in Eastern Region or Western
Uganda - Flexible
person, good communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to
extend working hours as project activities demand
