will be responsible for implementing MTI and donor financial policies and
procedures. The holder will work with Finance manager to prepare internal
monthly financial reports of all projects in their respective areas. The
position will also assist the Finance Manager in reviewing and updating the
policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- The Accountant will prepare account
analysis for each project in their areas and prepare donor reports
containing accurate and correct information. - Support the Program Managers to prepare
budgets based on planned project activities using the approved finance
guidelines or given donor regulations. - Establish controls using fund codes in
line with finance policies and procedures established by MTI and donors. - Prepare any budget
realignments/adjustments in collaboration with Program Manager. - Regularly monitor projects expenditures
and flag any issue of concern to the Finance Manager and engage program
managers to address these issues. - Use the approved guidelines to assist the
program managers to prepare and monitor budget. - Prepare and submit timely monthly
financial reports for all specified projects and donor reports for review
and approval by Finance manager - Offer timely technical support to project
managers with concerns on project reports. - Keenly track in detail all commitments,
purchases and outstanding items and prepare status reports. - Analysis of the financial situation of the
projects in his/her area and advising the Program Manager and In-charges
accordingly. - Record on a timely basis all financial
transactions relating to program area and monitor to ensure accuracy,
completeness and reliability. - Work closely with Program Managers to
consolidate monthly cash projections of projects in specified program
areas
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Accounting & Finance, or
Business Administration from a recognized University. Certificate from
professional body such ACCA, CFA (FAQ is necessary) or CPA - At least three years’ experience in
finance management. - Previous exposure and experience working
with UN agencies, USAID or international NGOs is an added advantage. - Computer literacy skills
- Good knowledge of computer applications in
respect to accounting, budgeting and cash control - Proficiency in the use of MS Office.
