(NGO) offering Comprehensive HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research &
General Medical Services; also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale
up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary: The Senior Accountant
will support the Finance Manager in backstopping all financial processes and
ensuring financial reports are accurate and in compliance with all regulatory
requirements
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
·        
In
charge of checking all financial payments in accordance with financial and
other related policies before authorization for payment by the Finance
Manager
·        
Reviewing
all Bank reconciliation statements and ensuring that all outstanding entries
are reconciled in timely manner
·        
Responsible
for reviewing all accounting entries for validity, accuracy and relevancy before
they are posted in the financial system for report generation
·        
Preparing
and submitting financial reports drafts for review by the Finance Manager and
ensuring all related schedules are prepared. This will include
preparation, analysis and commentary on all balance sheet & Income
statement account balances
·        
In
charge of monitoring the Balance sheet items and ensuring timely action on all
assets and Liability accounts
·        
Supporting
the Finance Manager in the Treasury function by tracking the performance of all
bank accounts and associated interest earned. This will include tracking the
Investment in the Reserve account as per financial policy
·        
Assist
the Finance Manager in red flagging all policy related issues airing from the
backstopping activities and generating policy amendment recommendations where
necessary
·        
Regularly
review the operations of the Cash office and ensure appropriate controls are in
place in the management of cash
·        
Perform
other roles as shall be assigned by the Finance Manager from time to time as
part of the team principle in the department. This will include deputizing the
Finance Manager while away
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The
ideal candidate should hold a first Degree preferably B.Com (Accounting), BBA
(Accounting) plus full professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA,
CIMA
·        
At
least five years, two of them in middle management positions in Accounting,
Finance or Auditing field
·        
Broad knowledge
of Financial Reporting standards and other regulatory requirements
·        
Knowledge
of donor financial accounting procedures (multi donor reporting)
·        
Proficiency
in at least two accounting packages (including Navision)
·        
The applicant must also be flexible, reliable,
and in sympathy with the Christian values of Mildmay Uganda
·        
Evidence of a non-judgemental approach regarding
race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
