Job Summary:  The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and
Learning (MEAL) Coordinator provides oversight for the project MEAL function
including putting in place and ensuring that the project uses MEAL tools to
adequately plan, monitor, evaluate and report in a timely manner on activity
implementation; outputs and outcomes. In collaboration with the MEAL team and
project team, ensure that the project has information sharing systems, and has
in place a mechanism for collecting, tracking, responding to feedback and
complaints from project partners and stakeholders. In addition, the incumbent
ensures that the project has and uses quality benchmarks in implementation of
project activities. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
(MEAL) Coordinator works together with the management team, the staff
identifies a learning agenda for the project MEAL system implementation, plans
for learning activities and documentation of experiences accordingly. The
person also provides technical support and supervision for data management to
ensure that project data for tracking progress is collected accurately and in
timely manner, support training of project team and partners on quality data
collection and management including use of data to inform decision making. The
job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency
team in MEAL or related roles when necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal candidate for the Save the Children
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator job
opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in statistics or development work.
·        
Additional training and experience in
biostatistics  or monitoring and
evaluation and Open MRS  is an added
advantage
·        
At least five years’ working experience in
monitoring and evaluation in a relevant programming (preferably with an
International NGO).
·        
Prior experience of working with District Local
Government with a focus improving reporting for projects.
·        
Knowledge and use of various survey methods for
monitoring programs.
·        
Skilled in training and mentorship of District
level partners in data collection management and reporting.
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills – networking,
oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate via email as well
as the use to Skype and other communication technologies.
·        
Computer literacy skills: Microsoft office
especially word, spreadsheet (Excel), Access, SPSS/Stata and management of
large data bases including use of MYSQL.
·        
Past exposure and experience of working with
local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
advantage.
·        
Excellent analytical skills and strategic
planning abilities.
·        
Ability to establish and maintain conducive
collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
·        
Computer literacy and excellent documentation
skills are a must.
·        
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability
to work well in an international environment with people from diverse
backgrounds and cultures.
·        
Ability to intervene with crisis management or
troubleshooting as necessary.
·        
Exceptional interpersonal and communication
skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
·        
Excellent time management and planning capacity.
·        
Availability and willingness to work extra hours
during times of humanitarian responses.
·        
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach
areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
