About Us:
The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child
Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter is a non-profit child focused
organization working to protect and promote the rights of children in Uganda.
Job Summary:  The Head of Programmes will assist the
Executive Director in ensuring sustainable programming and efficient management
of the programmes of the organisation and in the overall management of the
organization as part of the organization’s senior management team. The
incumbent will also deputise the Executive Director as and when delegated by
the Executive Director.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
Programme Development:
·        
In charge of coordinating the processes leading
to the design of competitive programmes and projects in line with ANPPCAN’s
strategic Plan
·        
Responsible for identifying of sources for funding
programmes and supporting resource mobilisaton processes within the
organisation
·        
Prospecting, building relationships and pitching
ANPPCAN to maximize value of all relationships
·        
In charge of coordinating the processes leading
to the design of competitive programmes and projects in line with ANPPCAN’s
strategic Plan
·        
Ensuring a sound financial programme resource
base for the organisation
Programme Management:
·        
Supporting and ensuring the development of clear
and feasible work-plans for all programme areas and projects in ANPPCAN
·        
Ensuring efficient, effective and timely
implementation activities as per the work-plans
·        
Ensuring accurate, high quality and timely
internal reporting on the programmes of the organisation as well as external
reporting to all relevant stakeholders
·        
Managing and ensuring synergy between the
various organisational programme components.
·        
Managing the integration of the various projects
of the organisation into a consolidated programme framework while ensuring
accountability for individual projects.
·        
Spearheading and ensuring skills enhancement and
capacity building for the programme team.
·        
Establishing, and ensuring adherence to quality
standards in programme management
Programme Promotion:
·        
Ensuring high quality documentation of the work
of the organisation
·        
Ensuring an effective MIS across the programme
·        
Ensuring visibility of the organisation’s work.
·        
Creating and sustaining a learning orgnisation
to ensure integration of continuous improvement
Donor Relations Management:
·        
Ensuring accurate, high quality and timely donor
reporting
·        
Responding to and addressing donor requirements
·        
Ensure continuous updates to donors to keep them
informed of developments within the organisation
Overall Management:
·        
Discharge management functions as may be delegated
by the Executive Director
·        
Deputising the Executive Director as and when
delegated by the Executive Director
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate for the ANPPCAN Head of
Programmes career placement must hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work,
Development Studies, Organisation Development, Social Sector Planning and
Management, or a related field.
·        
A minimum of three years of relevant experience
in programme management from a reputable organisation.
·        
Strong managerial and organisational competence
·        
Previous exposure and experience in child
protection programming
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of the
implementation of child protection programmes and monitoring and evaluation
·        
Significant knowledge of project planning and
management
·        
Good budgeting skills
·        
Ability to interact with people from different
backgrounds and cultures
·        
Excellent facilitation, presentation and
negotiation skills
