Officer
Appoint, promote and exercise disciplinary
control over persons holding public office in Parliament;
Review the terms and conditions of service,
standing orders, training and qualifications of persons holding office in
Parliament;
Provide a Parliamentary reporting service;
Provide such other staff and facilities as are
required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament;
To cause to be prepared in each financial year,
estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next financial year; and
Make recommendations to Parliament, or with the
approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and privileges
available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Officer – Publication will coordinate and oversee the publication of the
Department’s research reports and products, and to conduct research.
Responsibilities:
Edit research reports and publications planning,
production and dissemination
The incumbent will coordinate and support peer
reviews and editorials in the department
Provide editorial/publishing advice and guidance
to researchers on a regular basis
Solicit copies of reports from researchers for
publishing in accordance with the departmental policy
Ensure copies for publication meet applicable
editorial/publishing requirements and deadlines
Write, edit and proof read a range of reports
and products of the department
Prepare and submit research reports and brief to
Parliamentary Committees, MPs and staff
Arrange/support teams to plan the dissemination
of hard copy reports and publications
Design and liaise with external designers and
printers to ensure high quality publications; and to order and oversee printing
Perform any other job related tasks requested by
the department
Experience:
The applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree
in Mass Communication (majoring in print/publishing); journalism and
communication (majoring in print/ publishing) or Arts with Literature and
English Language Studies (ELS) studied as subjects from a recognized
University/Institution.
Good writing, editing, printing and publication
skills
Working knowledge of publishing, relevant web
technologies and applications such as desktop publishing, info-graphics, etc
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with research methods
Good report writing skills
Good data analysis and interpretation skills
Age: 21 years and above
Curriculum Vitae (CV) stating two referees; and certified copies of their
