agency against world hunger. It is the largest and longest serving humanitarian
agency in Uganda. Currently WFP focuses on three priority areas namely:
Emergency Humanitarian Action (EHA); Food & Nutrition Security (FNS); and
Agriculture & Market Support (AMS). WFP has operations in various parts of
the Country.
Job Summary: The Programme
Associate  will support the UN World Food
Programme (WFP) in the implementation of its operations.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
·        
Maintain records on programme activities, from
formulation stage through completion, by extracting relevant information from
reports, project committees, budget records and other documentation; make
information available for country briefs, country profiles and other related
purposes; ensure project cycle deadlines are met;
·        
Carry out advocacy and information related tasks
for project/programme activities such as making interventions and presentations
in meetings, workshops, seminars, missions etc ;
·        
Prepare status and progress reports by providing
information and background material for use in discussions and briefing
sessions;
·        
Organize project planning missions, meetings and
briefing sessions to identify and analyse problems and recommended project;
·        
Assess project performance including utilization
of resources and achievement of planned targets;
·        
Evaluate, develop, and recommend procedures.
Participates in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices, interprets
and assesses the impact of changes and makes recommendations on follow up
actions;
·        
Provide leadership, guidance, support
supervision and management to Field Office (FO) Monitoring  Assistants (MAs).;
·        
Ensure proper supervision and management of MAs
through closely discussing and moderating their leave schedules, providing programme
implementation support and ensuring availability of adequate staff and
resources;
·        
Closely manage the performance of MAs and
identify development needs and derive feasible way forward;
·        
Act as alternate to HOFO by providing
managerial, administrative, financial and human resource management support at
the Field Office;
·        
Assist the HOFO in planning and implementing
Field Office periodic work plans and budgets.
·        
Actively participate in planning and organizing
periodic programme reviews in collaboration with HOFO, other staff and partners
and document/share the outcome of the reviews;
·        
Coordinate and ensure the drafting of weekly,
monthly and quarterly work plans and budgets in collaboration with all staff
and according to the FO and CO annual work plan;
·        
Work in close collaboration with MAs and
logistics staff at the FO, prepare all food and NFIs call forwards for approval
and submission to CO;
·        
Work in liaison with Logistics staff and
partners, verify partners’ food and non-food item requests and invoices prior
to HOFO’s approval;
·        
Support and facilitate joint programme/logistics
periodic stock taking and reconciliation exercises and implement appropriate
recommendations;
·        
Work in close collaboration with Administration,
Finance and Programme staff; ensure timely and accurate preparation of weekly,
monthly and ad hoc reports, FO briefs and other write ups as per programme
guidelines and formats;
·        
Actively participate in preparing, reviewing and
clearing monthly food security monitoring reports and market information, data
collection tools and reports;
·        
Ensure MAs, collect data, prepare and submit
mission / other reports and that recommendations are followed up;
·        
Ensure an accurate and up to date database of FO
activities, beneficiaries and resources and are readily accessible to all
users;
·        
Work in close consultation with the HOFO,
backstop/participate in district level joint activities, CPs, NGOs and other UN
agencies’ events/activities;
·        
Coordinate/facilitate/participate in assessments
conducted;
·        
Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicants for the United Nations UN World
Food Programme (WFP) Programme Associate 
job placement should hold a University degree in any of the following
fields, Agriculture, Food Science and Social Sciences or other related field
from a recognized institution;
·        
A minimum of five years’ experience in a related
field gained from reputable organizations;
·        
Prior experience in project planning and
management, communication and advocacy;
·        
Previous experience working in Karamoja is
desirable;
·        
Proficiency in both oral and written English is
essential;
·        
Computer literacy i.e. working knowledge and
expertise in using MS Office applications;
