Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.

- Carry out independent soils and materials
investigations in line with departmental standards and guidelines; - Conduct regular reviews of contractors and
consultants’ quality assurance procedures and methodologies in line with
departmental standards; - Conduct inspection and independent compliance
checks on designs in line with departmental standards; - Respond to audit reports in line with
departmental guidelines and standards; - Develop a risk matrix and put in place risk
mitigation measures in the materials quality management; - Actively participate in Planning, budgeting
and reporting in line with departmental guidelines and targets. - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior
Materials Engineer
- The applicant for the UNRA Materials Engineer
career vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Civil Engineering,
Engineering Geology, Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or any other
related field; - Possession of Post Graduate qualifications in
a related field is an added advantage; - Professional registration with the ERB or
relevant Association of professional engineers in the commonwealth
countries is an added advantage; - Three years’ experience in Soils and
Materials investigations and tests. - Computer literacy skills
- High degree of integrity;
- Excellent track record of outstanding
performance; - Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Excellent oral and written communication
skills
