Refugee Council (NRC)
organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more
dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for
the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter,
education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and
hygiene sectors.
Assistant WASH (Sanitation) will ensure that, people of concern have safe and
hygiene environment.
Responsibilities:
Charged with the assessment; H&H campaign
planning, implementation and monitoring
Participate in field missions
Prepare and submit reports on weekly basis
Remain updated on technical and legal
considerations (of national laws, standards and codes)
Actively participate in NRC staff seminars and
training, when scheduled.
Planning: plan the communication activity
The Project Assistant WASH (Sanitation) will
provide information to the target population on ways of preventing the most
significant water and sanitation diseases;
The jobholder will visit the target population
to discuss the importance of using and constructing latrines, disposing of
feaces and hand washing and any other issues as determined by the project
coordinator;
The incumbent will raise awareness about the
importance of using family latrine;
Encourage people in building and use family
latrines and clean and maintain them
Provide information for monitoring and
evaluation purposes in the form of verbal feedback, attending regular meetings
with other team members and project coordinator, and written documentation
Assessment; H&H campaign planning,
implementation and monitoring
Follow up and supervise latrine completion,
quality and timeframe
Assessment: identify risk practices, select
practices for intervention, define the target audiences, select communication
channels
Experience:
The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council
(NRC) Project Assistant WASH (Sanitation) job opportunity should hold a
Diploma/Degree in Environmental Health or related qualification
Two year’s experience with satisfactory
performance in the same or similar functional area preferably with UN or INGOs
Excellent communication skills
Computer literacy skills
Fluency in English and Local language
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to work under pressure and meet
deadlines
Ability to resolve individual and group
conflicts
High level of computer literacy
Good Capacity Building and community mobilization
and skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
