Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
for the monitoring the implementation of the upgrading/new construction of road
projects. This will involve monitoring of the projects works, progress of land acquisition,
ensuring environmental and social safeguards are mainstreamed, timely progress
reporting and participate in the preparation of closure report detailing assets
to be handed over, as built drawings, etc. In addition, the incumbent will be
responsible for overseeing quality control, health and safety matters, and traffic
management and also participate in taking of measurement of works.
- Actively monitor and supervise the
upgrading/new construction for road projects in line with standards and
specifications and project plans; - Conduct quality management and confirmation
of measurements of the executed works in line with bills of quantities,
standards, and specifications; - In charge of monitoring project timelines for
upgrading/new projects in line with the approved work program; - Prepare and submit progress reports on upgrading
/ new road construction projects in line with performance agreements; - Actively monitor financial progress of the
project(s) managed in line with contract financing agreements; - Respond to audit reports and implement agreed
recommendations within specified time frames; - Develop risk matrix and put in place risk
mitigation measures of management of road projects. - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager
Road Development
- The applicant for the UNRA Engineer Road
Development job vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Civil Engineering
and Construction Management; - Professional registration with the ERB or
relevant Association of professional engineers in the Commonwealth countries
is an added advantage; - At least three years’ experience in roads
development. - Demonstrated experience in Project Management
of major construction works; - Demonstrated working experience in managing
diverse professionals. - High degree of integrity;
- Excellent track record of outstanding
performance; - Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent oral and written communication
skills; - Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Ability to deliver accurate results in a
timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
