Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
The Logistics and Assets Management Officer will be responsible for
supporting the programme related functions in the UNISFA AoO in the following
areas:
  • Streamline asset management services,
    focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Keenly review and assist in the day-to-day
    management and reporting of assets, 
    maintain an accounting system for all UNOPS managed equipment and
    properties in accordance UNOPS lease and asset management policy
  • Review and update the existing asset
    management and accounting system for all UNOPS managed equipment and
    properties in accordance with UNOPS asset management policy
  • Streamline Abyei’s programme wide asset
    management framework in collaboration with the Support Service Officer
    (SSO) in country
  • Carry out routine inspection and physical
    verification of all stores and equipment, ensure databases are up to date
    on the quantity, quality, serviceability, and location of relevant
    equipment/items
  • Ensure that a register for assets,
    non-expendable property and equipment is maintained/updated for all
    programme locations on a regular basis
  • Implement internal control system which
    ensures that goods in transit are tracked and monitored and the asset
    registry records are updated on a regular basis
  • Prepare relevant asset disposal
    documentation for review and approval in accordance with UNOPS rules and
    regulations
Provide assistance to ensure efficient logistics services, focusing on
achievement of the following results:
  • Actively contribute substantively in the
    development and implementation of a comprehensive logistics system that
    will operate in accordance with UNOPS logistical procedures
  • Implement a coherent programme wide
    logistical supply system which will come into effect in accordance with
    UNOPS procurement rules and regulations
  • Carry out all programme logistical
    services in accordance with UNOPS rules and regulations   
  • Routinely facilitate knowledge building and
    sharing focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Organize trainings for the support and
    operations staff on supply chain, logistics and asset management processes
    to ensure the capacity building of the existing support staff at each
    programme location
  • Ensure that programme appointed support
    staff are fully aware of UNOPS rules and regulations regarding asset
    management, as well as programme specific asset management framework
  • Ensure compliance with relevant asset
    management rules and regulations, and in doing so ensure that support
    staff is able to carry out asset management functions independently and in
    accordance with relevant rules
  • Introduce and synthesize lessons learnt
    and best practices in logistics and asset management
  • Contribute to knowledge networks and
    communities of practice
  • Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations
    Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Logistics and Assets Management
    Officer job vacancy should hold an Advanced University Degree (Masters
    Degree or equivalent) in Public Administration, Supply Chain Management,
    Logistics, Asset Management or related subjects with at least two (2)
    years of relevant work experience; or a First level University degree
    (Bachelors Degree or equivalent) with four (4) years of experience; or a
    Secondary school diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years of experience
    may be accepted in lieu of advance degree.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in
    asset management, supply chain management, cargo management or logistics;
    or two years of combined experience in any of the aforementioned fields
  • Previous experience in supporting projects
    and working with clients is required
  • Possession of a Valid driver’s license is
    required
  • Professional Certification in Supply Chain
    Management is desired
  • Professional Certification in Asset
    Management is desired
  • Previous experience working with UNOPS or
    other UN agency is considered an advantage   
  • Experience in managing assets for an international
    organisation is an asset
  • Previously work experience in Sudan/South
    Sudan is desired
  • Ability to adapt and engage in
    implementation of new systems is desired
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication
    skills is desired
  • Fluency in English (Speaking, reading and
    writing) is required
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is desired

    all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see
    things from clients’ point of view; Establishes and maintains productive
    partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; Identifies
    clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; Monitors ongoing
    developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed
    and anticipate problems; Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in
    project
