for humanitarian aid of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, founded in 2005
by Malteser Germany (founded in 1953). The relief service has more than 50
years of experience in humanitarian relief and currently covers around 100
projects in about 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas. Malteser
International has been working in Uganda since 1996, with projects in several
regions of the country. In Northern Uganda and more specifically in the West
Nile region, MI is active in the WASH sector in Rhino Camp for improving the
lives of both the host population as well as the refugee population.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will monitor the overall
procurement activities within Northern Uganda in close coordination with the
Logistics Officer and the Regional Admin and Logistics Coordinator at the
Country Office in Kampala, which include procurement, assets control, supply
and service/maintenance
Work in liaison with the Administrator to ensure
compliance with procurement and financial regulations set by the donor
Ensure that logistics and procurement activities
within the Arua Office are carried out according to Malteser International‘s
policies and principles as well as country specific procedures
Ensure up-to-date inventories, tracking and
recording of inventory and fixed assets and the accurate documentation of these
items
Prepare procurement requests, bid analysis,
purchase orders and other logistics documents
Manage and ensure proper maintenance of vehicles
and other assets and organize and oversee any movement
The incumbent will support other team members
(e.g. Country Office) in making arrangements for events such as workshops,
trainings, etc.
Responsible for any other logistics needs that
may arise from programs supported by the Kampala office as agreed with the
program
Organize transport for goods and personnel
inside and outside the project (in cooperation with the head of fleet)
Responsible for: inventories, stocks,
scheduling, documentation of all aforementioned activities
Organize communication, security and office
equipment management
Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a University
degree in logistics, procurement, administration or any other related field
Preferably knowledge and experience in
development or emergency work
At least one to three years of relevant working
experience
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills,
working with different groups, partners and nationalities
Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a
strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principle
Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn from
others
Ability to multitask and cope with competing
demands under tight deadlines
Ability to cope with high workload and stress
and identify priority activities and assignments, and adjust priorities as
required
Ability to establish and maintain good working
relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary
environment
Valid driving licence
Fully computer literate (Microsoft Office) and
good knowledge of other ICT equipment
Fluency in English (written and spoken),
Kiswahili, German, or French of advantage
