Hunger (ACF)
Coordinator
over thirty years, ACF has been
implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene programs in the Lango, Acholi, West Nile and Karamoja regions in
Uganda.
Manager-Nutrition will support the ACF office in Yumbe through the provision of
support to the on-going South Sudanese refugees crisis. The Program Manager
shall proactively monitor and daily supervise the implementation of Curative
and preventive Nutrition interventions in the refugee settlement.
Responsibilities:

Management
of the project cycle in nutrition and health
Meeting
the objectives of ACF in the centres dealing with malnutrition
Working
closely with other sectors to analyse needs in the area
Promoting
and supervising high quality care for clients of the centre
Putting
in place and monitoring the system of data collection concerning the treatment of

keeping with the policy of ACF as a learning organisation, contributing to
building on good practice, experience, and assessments
Programme Manager –Nutrition is responsible for:
Evaluation
of the skill level and technical competence of the ACF teams
Identification
of training needs
Skills
development for ACF colleagues in his/her programme
Ensuring
the quality and pertinence of training programmes established for the ACF teams
–Nutrition is responsible for:
The
assessment of the skills and performance of the ACF teams in his/her programme
The
management of his/her teams (leadership, monitoring, motivation.)
Creating
and supervising action plans for individual team members
Managing
overall planning and the division and coordination of work in collaboration
with his/her
Lending
support to teams in the organisation and coordination of their work
Supporting
team members on routine questions (on technical matters relating to
malnutrition)
Manager-Nutrition is responsible for:
Introducing
a strategy for addressing the problem of malnutrition which is adapted
to the local context
Timely
and high quality implementation of planned activities within his/her programme
and alerting the Coordinator to any delays or excessive or under-use of
resources
Timely
and high quality reporting, both internal and external, of the
activities of the programme, together with a critical analysis
Identifying
and proposing the development of new programmes
Writing
the nutritional and medical sections of proposals for new activities
Creating
and promoting an operational strategy adapted to the local situation
Presenting
the programme to partners (the authorities, funding agencies etc)
Monitoring
the budget and targets achieved with reference to the project submission, and
making any necessary adjustments in consultation with the finance teams
Manager-Nutrition is responsible for:
The
professional standing of ACF in his/her geographical area
The
distribution to partners of information collected locally
Respect
for the principles and values of ACF in its relations with partners
The
quality of relations with partners
Representing
nutritional issues at the level of the programme and the geographical area of
intervention in regional coordination meetings, meetings with the
authorities and visits by funding bodies and partners
Identifying
partners and other agencies in the area
Developing
a framework for communication with local representatives (regular meetings,
identification of key local actors and development of collaboration with them)
in order to facilitate harmonious and productive relations
Adhering
to the terms of agreements signed off with partners working in the same
field and referring to them regularly to ensure that collaboration follows the
lines intended
Ensuring
that the relationship established with partners respects the principles and
values of the ACF partnership policy (currently being developed: trust,
respect, common purpose, complementarily, transparency, mutual dependency and
shared learning…)
Consolidating
and building on experience to ensure the long term maintenance of activities
and the spread of good practice
Experience:
The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferably in
Nutrition.
At
least five years of humanitarian experience
Excellent
communication, writing and analytical skills
Good
team management and representation competencies
Knowledge
of budget management
Previous
experience in assessment, monitoring or evaluation
Familiarity
with ACF and acceptance of ACF’s principles
Excellent facilitation skills
Ability
to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
Extremely
flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
Excellent
reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills
Knowledge
of the local language in Yumbe is an added advantage
Diplomatic
and culturally sensitive
Fluency
in written and spoken English
