launched a new UK AID funded FoodTrade programme linking smallholder farmers
producing maize, beans and rice to export markets.
Driver and Assistant will provide safe and timely transport support to enable
the Farm Africa FoodTrade Uganda team to carry out their duties, maintain the
Farm Africa vehicle and provide support with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:

Safely
operating the Farm Africa vehicle in accordance to Uganda traffic laws
Driving
Farm Africa staff and officials to various locations across Teso-sub
Region, and on occasion further afield, as assigned by the Project Accountant
& Administrator
Conducting
and overseeing minor repairs of the assigned vehicle
Maintaining
an accurate log book for fuel consumption, mileage and usage of assigned
vehicle including appropriate authorization for each trip
Carrying
out regular checks, for example oil, water, tyres etc and reporting any issues
promptly to the Project Accountant and Administrator
Ensuring
timely service of the vehicle as recommended by manufacturer
Arranging
major vehicle repairs with appropriate service providers when the need arises
Ensuring
procurement of vehicle parts are done in line with the Farm Africa
procurement guidelines
Ensuring
the vehicle is cleaned regularly
Support
colleagues with office works including photocopying, filling, binding of
documents and other duties as reasonably requested
Provide
office reception support as required
Carry
out errands as directed by the Project Accountant & Administrator
Experience:
The applicant for the Farm Radio Project Driver
and Assistant should preferably hold a Certificate of Secondary Education
Valid Class C Driving Permit Working as a driver
Mechanical skills qualification
Advanced driver training
At least two years’ work experience Working for
an INGO
Clean driving history
Demonstrable mechanical skills
Computer literacy i.e. working knowledge of
Microsoft Office programmes such as Word and Excel
Demonstrable ability to maintain records
Detailed knowledge of roads in rural Teso
sub-region
Good standard of spoken English Able to work
with different people from different cultures
Able to work under own initiative
