Uganda Limited (IAU) is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization
established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU
is actively involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement
of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and
in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of
Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health
(HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation
& Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management
and Governance systems.

their families and host communities to empower them cope with prevailing
situations, make informed decisions and live positively for improved quality of
life.
- Provide counseling services and other short
term therapeutic services to refugees coming to office on individual and
group basis and in communities. - Carry out site visits to assess individual
psychosocial needs and provide site counseling - Identify and assess the individual needs of
refugees who are extremely vulnerable and refer them to the PSN desk for
support. - Ensure up to date record keeping including
case preparation, keeping continuous counseling notes and any other
documents used in the course of work. - Prepare timely periodic and specific activity
reports - Follow-up and monitor general case status and
processing of refugee cases from time to time - Work closely with the health team and the
visiting psychologist to handle different cases of trauma as and when
required. - Ensure services are offered in a professional
and ethical manner and - Document the best practices implemented,
success stories and case studies for dissemination and learning. - Work closely with the health team and the visiting psychologist to handle different cases of trauma as and when required.
- Maintain proper and updated records on all Persons of Concern (POCs) and in particular SGBV survivors on their files.
- Sign in and out all accessed Persons of Concern (POCs) files at the records office as per agreed SoPs.
- The Counsellor will identify, assess, report and develop strategies to mitigate against risks that may happen to Persons of Concern (POCs), staff and the Organisation.
- Ensure that the internal process, procedures and policies including work plans are adhered to.
- Perform any other duties in line with the job
as required from time to time by the supervisor.
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold a bachelor’s
degree in psychology, counseling and guidance, counseling psychology or
its equivalent from a recognized university. Possession of a post graduate
diploma in counseling psychology is an advantage - A minimum of three years of relevant experience
in handling complex psycho-social cases. - Excellent interpersonal skills
