Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is a national non-government
organization which was founded in 1986 by Ugandan mothers committed to
providing relief aid to needy children left parentless by the civil turbulence
of the mid-1980’s and the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
in partnership with Care International in Uganda and Government of Uganda plan
to reach out to 62,500 vulnerable households in 22 districts in Eastern Region
(i.e. Teso and Bugisu Sub Regions) through Livelihoods pathway over a three
year period (2016-2019). Creation of Community Savings and Credit Groups
(CSCGs), Business Skills Training and Financial Literacy Education are key
interventions of Project for Financial Inclusion in Rural Areas (PROFIRA) with
funding from IFAD/GOU.
- The Regional Accountant will ensure timely
requisition of funds from head office and make payments at the region; - Ensuring that requisition forms for
payment are filled out - Preparing payments vouchers and
cheques upon claims being approved by the Regional Manager - Manage petty cash and follow up
accountabilities - Preparing receipts and payment
reports - Keenly monitoring fuel usage
- Ensure safety and regular repair and
maintenance of the assets by; - In charge of maintaining a record of
all assets in the region - Managing stores and distributing
assets to end users - Coordinating the repair and
maintenance process - Preparing timely financial management reports
of regional activities by; - Acting as agents for regional bank
accounts, collecting bank statements and preparing monthly bank
reconciliations for branch accounts - Ensuring books of accounts are well
posted and updated for submission to head office - Ensuring all financial documents are
filed - Enter capture data at the regions to enable
donor reporting by receiving data collected from the field and inputting
it on to the system
- The applicants for the PROFIRA Project Regional
Accountant jobs must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounts e.g. BBA or BCOM - Professional accounting qualifications i.e. ACCA
/ CPA is an added advantage - At least two years of related work experience
- Knowledge of accounting software packages
(QuickBooks, SUN or, NAVISION) - Good computer skills
- Good numerical skills
