National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of
Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the elaboration of
standards and quality of products and services so as to facilitate fair trade,
promote local industries and protect consumers.
- Carry out periodic internal reviews or system
audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed (ePortal; eSW;
Asycuda World use and other e-systems in use within the department) - Conduct internal investigation of compliance
issues using the departmental systems - In charge of the development, implementation
and maintenance of all systems that support an efficient imports
inspection regime - Assess product compliance and operational
risks and develop risk management strategies - Ensure integration of systems to support the
departmental quality management system - The incumbent will receive, record and submit
samples to Testing Department and also establish and maintain a clear
routing mechanisms - Manage sample coding activities so as to ease
sample identification and preserve sample integrity - Follow-up on submitted samples and receive
test results for onward submission to the supervisor - Conduct monthly auditing of imports
inspection reports against information in the system at different stations
and provide monthly performance reports per station (contrast against
total imports from URA data) - Maintain and update records on sample routing
related information - Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
on the operations of the office

Compliance and Quality Assurance job opportunity should hold a Master’s
degree or post graduate qualification and Honours Degree in Chemistry,
Biology, Food science, Food Technology, Engineering or any other science
related qualification from a recognized University/Institution - Computer literacy skills with key
competencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications. - At least five years’ experience in Standards,
Quality Assurance, or quality control, Standards Development or Laboratory
Testing after graduation - Good team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Good presentation skills.
