Since its commercial launch in October 2012, M-KOPA has connected more than
200,000 homes in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to solar power, and is now adding
over 500 new homes each day. The success of M-KOPA (M= mobile, KOPA= to borrow)
stems from making solar products affordable to low-income households on a
pay-per-use installment plan. Customers acquire solar systems for a small
deposit and then purchase daily usage “credits” for US $0.45, or less than the
price of traditional kerosene lighting. After one year of payments customers
own their solar systems outright and can upgrade to more power.

Job Summary: The Driver will carry out the operation and
preventive maintenance of MKOPA vehicles for administrative and operational
functions

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive company vehicle to pick up or drop
employees and other authorized person (s) to a required destination and
back as instructed by supervisor and
follow traffic rules and
regulations - Deliver documents to required destinations
and make sure that all deliveries have been signed and delivered to the
correct recipient as requested by supervisor - Maintain general cleanliness of the vehicle
in line with MKOPA organizational requirements - Perform general and preventative maintenance
of vehicle in a road worthy condition in line with MKOPA and National
requirements for an effective length of service - Account for funds spent on driving operations
in line with MKOPA Accounting procedures - Carry out general office /administrative
duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for this position must hold O’
Level Certificate with a pass in English - A minimum of two years of professional
driving with a good driving record - Hold a valid driving Permit/license of Class
C& E - Proven ability to write and understand
English - Must be vigilant with a keen sense of
direction - Patient with a polite attitude towards other
road users - Awareness of road safety and regulations
- Ability to work in a team
