Job Summary: The Technician/Mechanic will be responsible for
the operation and well-being of the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise personnel which typically include
    recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work
    allocation, and problem resolution;
  • Manage the maintenance of equipment, and
    performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation
    of all equipment;
  • The incumbent will also investigate abnormal
    operating events or equipment failures to determine the cause; makes
    adjustments, repairs and/or modifications as needed;
  • Ensure proper documentation of operations
    activities in logs and/or incident reports;
  • Maintains effective communication with
    General Manager and Sales;
  • Ensures conformance with policies and
    procedures, safety codes and local laws;
  • Responsible for mine planning including:
    Ensuring deposit is depleted to maximum potential, stripping and
    reclamation are approached efficiently and effectively, material
    gradations are maintained according to specifications;
  • Responsible for: Recommending parts for the
    entire operation, coding and approving time cards, creating, entering and
    closing work orders, scheduling crews to include production and
    maintenance, holding “tool box” safety meetings.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a Diploma in
    Mechanical Engineering;
  • At least two (2) to five (5) years of
    technical experience;
  • Significant experience in handling mechanical
    equipment in terms of service, operation and maintenance;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to obtain results through
    others, and to lead
  • Effective oral and written communication
    skills
  • Computer literacy i.e. Proficient in
    Microsoft Word and Excel.
