- The applicant will provide effective and
confidential counselling service (usually short-term) to students; - Actively promote positive mental health and
emotional wellbeing by organizing relevant workshops for students and
staff; - Refer students to other support services as
appropriate; - Conduct research in areas relevant to student
development and wellness, which may be in collaboration with other
professionals where appropriate - Produce assessments and other reports as
required by the University; - Update and maintain records and statistics in
line with the University’s Confidentiality of Data Protection policy; - Actively participate in monitoring and
evaluation of the counselling service within the University; - Supervise and support, where appropriate, the
work of other staff working with students.
- The ideal candidate must possess a Honours
Degree in Psychology/ Counselling Psychology/ Educational Psychology - Possession of a post-graduate doctoral level
training in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology - A minimum of four to five years’ experience
as a counsellor with administrative and substantial experience of offering
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy [CBT-], Cognitive Analytic Therapy [CAT] or
another cognitive approach, preferably in a comparable setting. - Proven ability to use complex methods of
psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring
sustained and intense concentration - Ability to maintain a high degree of
professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
suitably qualified and interested candidates should send their applications
