Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, review and continuously improve foam
products to match and exceed market demand - Carrying out research on innovative methods
of production and modern production machinery - In charge of analysing customer feedback
reports and recommending appropriate measures - To continuously develop production cost
control measures to ensure the foam products remain competitive by - Responsible for analysing formulation of the
product to ensure that it is cost effective - In charge of developing guidelines for foaming
preparations for the various foam products - Putting in place mechanisms to control waste
- Designing production plans to ensuring
effective use of raw materials - Ensure an effective foaming process in
compliance with UNBS guidelines by - Sampling of final product to ensure conformity
to product specification - Ensure quality consistence of foam products
in accordance with market demand by - Continuously training and developing staff in
formulation of raw materials in accordance to plan or set production time - Regularly testing the product internally
- Conducting spot checks on production staff to
ensure compliance to work schedule and compliance to the international
standards (Uganda National Bureau Standards (UNBS)) - Ensuring regular repair and maintenance of
all production machinery - Ensure availability of adequate financial
resources for the department by - Preparing timely annual budgets for the
production department - In charge of reviewing periodic reports on
production performance - Analysing annual production budget
performance - Develop and continuously review health and
safety policies and procedures in compliance with UNBS standards - Develop and continuously review quality
control policies and procedures in accordance to UNBS - Develop and regularly review the repair and
maintenance handbook to ensure reduction of machine downtime - Regularly coach, mentor and appraise
subordinates to ensure a skilled and competent production team - Perform any other duties as may be assigned
from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry - At least five years’ working experience, two years’
experience at a senior manager level. - Certificate in Quality Control
- Computer knowledge i.e. MS Word, Excel and
PowerPoint - Working knowledge in polyurethane chemistry
is an advantage
