About Hospice:
Hospice
Africa Uganda (HAU) is a national organization which was founded in 1993 to
promote modern methods of pain and symptom control as well as
“whole-person” (holistic) care for patients living with cancer and
HIV/AIDS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provide
quality education courses and advocacy activities to promote the spread of
palliative care throughout Uganda and Africa.
Job Summary: The Development Manager will primarily ensure
sustainable financial support and resources to allow HAU execute its mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop a national and international
    fundraising strategy to meet income target for a growing organization;
  • Coordinate and manage the HAU grant
    portfolio;
  • Work in liaison with the CET to identify
    funds needed, set targets and agree approaches;
  • The incumbent will prepare, submit, manage
    and follow up all grant proposals to government agencies, private
    foundations, and corporate foundations;
  • Build a robust donor base;
  • The jobholder will also develop and maintain
    key long-term relationships with donors and prospects;
  • Develop innovative approaches in mobilizing
    resources at the community, local and international levels via one-on-one
    meetings with sponsors, donors, telephone solicitations, grant-writing,
    on-line resource mobilization, and public presentations;
  • Offer technical support and guidance on
    proposal development to the program and development team;
  • Train and mentor the HAU development team and
    communicate fundraising goals and progress throughout HAU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
    in Project Planning and Management; Public Health; Marketing;
    Communications; or other related discipline preferred.
  • Possession of a post graduate / Master’s
    degree in project management is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three years of related work
    experience.
