Uganda.  We are a subsidiary of the
Nation Media Group, which is East & Central Africa’s largest multi-media
group.
Job Summary: The News Producer (English) will plan, coordinate
and produce reliable, objective and authoritative news so as to attract the
largest numbers of viewers and make NTV the preferred TV station. The incumbent
needs to understand the core audience and anticipate viewer expectations by
proactively engaging in research. The incumbent will primarily be responsible
for identifying and pitching key stories and editorial themes in order to
create informative, coherent and dynamic news and related programs. He/she is
expected to produce polished, professional, error free newscasts with high
production values at a fast pace.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The jobholder will drive editorial content
    generation process
  • Brief, debrief, guide and monitor Reporters
    to ensure story deadlines are achieved within specified times
  • Edit news scripts, write headlines and make
    key decisions on story aesthetics
  • Ensure images and sound used in stories are
    of the highest possible standards
  • Ensure quality control of content before
    broadcasts
  • Deploy and effectively manage News crew/teams
    on location.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the NTV News Producer
    (English) job opportunity should hold a Basic University degree.
  • Prior experience in editing news scripts,
    packaging and making key decisions on story aesthetics
  • An acute sense of news and an understanding
    of the Ugandan political and socio-economic landscape
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Be a leader of people and have a keen sense
    of responsibility
  • Excellent command of English language (spoken
    and written)
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute TV
    stories
  • Proven ability to drive editorial content
    generation process
  • Decisive and sensitive under pressure
