Job Summary: The Machine Operator will carry out a set of tasks
using machinery. The jobholder will be responsible for setting up, operating
and maintaining various machines to ensure the interminable and efficient
running of production. A great machine operator is reliable and able to work
with attention to detail and safety standards. On-the-job training is a good
way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to
learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will
require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that
production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and
profits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Set-up machines at the beginning of shift to
    ensure proper working order;
  • Perform testing procedures to ensure that
    machines work optimally during the production procedures;
  • Maintain and clean machines before and after
    each shift;
  • Feed information akin to speed, shapes and
    sizes through the machine set up box;
  • Place parts in semi-automated machines;
  • The jobholder will calibrate machines at the
    beginning of each shift;
  • Recalibrate machines at the end of each
    shift;
  • Monitor machines during every procedure to
    ensure optimum running;
  • Troubleshoot problems during machine
    operation;
  • Ensure that regular and preventative
    maintenance procedures are carried out;
  • Perform random tests to ensure accuracy;
  • Carry out safety checks on every machine;
  • Ensure that machines are producing quality
    products by managing periodic checks on output;
  • Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready
    and available at all times;
  • Create and maintain activity logs;
  • Provide relevant information regarding
    progress to supervisors.
     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should at least hold a Diploma
    in Mechanical Engineering required;
  • A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of
    related experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to obtain results through
    others, and to lead
  • Effective oral and written communication
    skills
