• Develop and oversee the implementation of a
  financial management policy for the Society
• Take charge of the Society’s Accounts
  Regulatory role, to ensure that operators comply with Accounting
  Requirements of the society.
• Manage periodic review and update of the
  Society’s Accounting System to ensure its viability and efficiency in
  meeting the needs of the Society.
• Overall control of income and expenditure and
  generally the financial administration of the Society
• Guide management on control of costs and
  achievement of budget plans by interpretation of regular financial
  information.
• Ensure fair costing and pricing of society’s
  services in liaison with other departments.
• Manage the development of the society’s
  computerization strategy
• Represent the society in negotiations,
  funding and rescheduling of payments.
• The jobholder will be responsible for
  overseeing the management of loans, grants and assets.
• Ensure timely preparation of periodic
  management reports and timely submission of final accounts to the
  Secretary General and the Board as required.
• Oversee the Financial Budgeting and Budgetary
  control activities and ensure preparation of Business Plan with financial
  targets and performance indicators.

  placement should hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce
  or any related field
• Hold Professional accounting qualification
  e.g. ACCA, CPA, CFA etc.).
• Relevant professional qualifications and
  training in Finance, Project planning and management, Monitoring and
  evaluation are added advantages
• At least ten years’ accounting experience in
  a large organization with at least 5 years in a Senior Management
  position.
• Significant experience in using Financial
  Management Information Systems (NAVISON accounting package is an added
  advantage).
• Broad knowledge of Budgeting and budgetary
  control
• Financial analysis skills and knowledge
• Familiarity with donor financial accounting
  procedures
• Working knowledge of operations of sub grant
  partners/community based organizations
• Accounting Procedures and Standards
• Working knowledge of Computerized Accounting
  Systems and Spreadsheet
• Working knowledge of asset management and payroll
  management
• Familiarity with donor financial accounting
  procedures
• Working knowledge of GAAP, IAS/AFRS
  accounting requirements and budgeting
• Tax laws and systems in Uganda
• Team Leadership
• High degree of integrity
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication
  skills
• Demonstrated ability to identify critical
  financial issues with capacity to pay attention to details.
• Asset/inventory management skills
• Capacity building skills
