Health Services in the South West Uganda Project (RHITES)
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end pediatric
HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. We
are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15
countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of
HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the
highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over the last 25
years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States and
new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF Uganda Country
program is currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with
various donors.
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) implements the USAID
Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in the South West Uganda
Project (RHITES) whose aim is to increase the availability, accessibility and
quality of integrated health services including HIV and TB prevention, care and
treatment; maternal, neonatal and child health services; family planning;
nutrition assessment, counseling support; malaria prevention and treatment and
other primary care services.
and Child Health, MNCH will lead a team of professionals (including Medical
Doctors and Nutritionists) to implement the integrated health program in the
districts of support She/he will work with the team of technical advisors in various
program areas to de technical guidance to the team on MNCH, FP and nutrition in
implementing the regional health integrated program. The person will provide
technical leadership and oversight in the development, focusing and
implementation of MNCH, FP and Nutrition activities. The jobholder will work
closely with the Foundation’s Technical Director and other program technical staff
to ensure technical quality of the intervention design and implementation. The
incumbent will also work closely with the other EGPAF’s Technical Advisors in
identification and provision of technical support; and ensure standard procedures
in quality of care are addressed to during training and implementation. The
incumbent will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities
and, in collaboration with the project team and partners, support the design of
service delivery strategies, based on sound and current scientific evidence. The
incumbent mentor and supervises a team of Technical Advisors including MNCH Advisors,
Family Planning Advisor and Nutrition Advisor.
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor
of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree with master’s degree in either
Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Public Health, or related field - At least five years’ experience with
demonstrable technical skills in a technical advisory role in
MNCH/FP/Nutrition services. - Demonstrated ability to build capacity
through formal and informal training, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing
professional development in maternal, new born and child health, family
planning and nutrition. - Significant experience in managing quality
improvement interventions and technical/institutional capacity building
programs primarily through a technical assistance approach. - Previous exposure and experience in leading
project activities in implementation and proven ability to advise project
management, motivate and mentor staff at key positions to create a
positive team environment. - Broad knowledge and understanding of the
Ugandan health care system, particularly the public health system
(district health services) and good knowledge of the community support
structures. - Excellent oral and written communication,
presentations and report writing skills in English. Strong skills in word
processing and Excel spread sheets.
