Job Summary: The Senior Officer will mainly be responsible for
the implementation of Youth in Action Project (YiA) under Livelihood/Education
and Youth Empowerment. The Senior Officer will regularly consult and share with
the Project Manager – YiA on planning, implementation and monitoring of project
activities for vulnerable youth as well as compilation of regular reports
(including weekly program updates) in line with Save the Children International
reporting requirements. The incumbent may be called upon as and when necessary
to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the Children
    Senior Officer – YIA placement should hold a bachelor’s degree in
    Education, Gender Studies or Social Science, Development Studies or related
    field or equivalent accrued working experience, with skills and experience
    in Youth programming, livelihoods and literacy/life skills programming
  • Three years of related experience in the
    related discipline in Uganda (preferably with a NGO).
  • Prior working experience in planning and
    research/monitoring and evaluations, ability to work with multi-sectoral
    teams and agencies
  • Past exposure and experience of working with
    local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
    Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
    advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive
    collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation
    skills are a must.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an international environment with people from
    diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management
    or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication
    skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning
    capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Proven ability to speak the local language
    (Runyakitara) and directly interact with the target group will be an added
    advantage
