Job Summary: The Senior Officer, Sexual and Reproductive Health
will actively contribute to the achievement of government and SCI Sexual
Reproductive Health concerns and needs of young youth aged 12-18 on the program
including cross cutting gender issues that affect both young boys’ and girls’
active participation in the four districts of Kabarole, Kasese, Fort Portal and
Bundibugyo. The incumbent will contribute to Save the Children’s capacity to
implement a gender sexual reproductive health (SRH) strategy as a means of
enhancing youth participation (especially adolescent girls) and support
addressing and mitigation of issues that affect youth livelihoods and psychosocial
welfare while on the program. The jobholder will build the capacity of the
implementing staff and community based facilitators to handle and refer SRH as
appropriate using local structures and resource persons as appropriate;
participate in direct participation in dialogues between young mothers and
fathers to facilitate participation and completion of the training. The incumbent
may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases
of humanitarian crisis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Save the Children
Senior Officer, Sexual and Reproductive Health – YIA career placement
should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a health related discipline.
Post graduate training in either public health, Health Systems
Strengthening, Community Health, Reproductive Health, Gender etc will be
of added advantage. - A minimum of three years’ experience in
planning and implementing Adolescent Development (AD) or Adolescent Sexual
Reproductive Health (ASRH) programmes. - Prior exposure and experience of working with
the Local Government, local partners and training in either Adolescent
Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) with a focus on promoting adolescent
friendly service delivery in the communities. - Past exposure and experience of working with
local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
advantage. - Excellent analytical skills and strategic
planning abilities. - Ability to establish and maintain conducive
collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team. - Computer literacy and excellent documentation
skills are a must. - Willingness to travel and work in
hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed cultural awareness and
ability to work well in an international environment with people from
diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Ability to intervene with crisis management
or troubleshooting as necessary. - Exceptional interpersonal and communication
skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching. - Excellent time management and planning
capacity. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Proven ability to speak the local language
(Runyakitara) and directly interact with the target group will be an added
advantage
