Job Summary: The Research Associate will provide the necessary
support to research on Agricultural Value Chains and Nutrition in Uganda.
He/she reports to the Post Doctorial Scientist‐ Agricultural Economist/Nutritionist and
will work within an interdisciplinary team from CIAT and partner organizations
to implement the project “Making Value Chains Work for Food and Nutrition
Security of Poor and Vulnerable Population in East Africa.”

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Render support in coordinating the project in
collaboration with national research organizations and German University
partners - Responsible for ensuring quality data is
collected to deliver the required research outputs. - Support with logistical arrangements related
to the testing of solar panel dryers in rural areas with farmer
associations - Undertake documentation and cleaning of
survey data - In charge of the preparation of project
events and workshops - Prepare and submit timely project reports
according to agreed schedules - Actively participate in drafting project
reports, newsletters, presentations, and journal papers. - Perform any other duties as and when called
upon
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s
degree in Food Science, Agricultural Economics, Food Economics - A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
- Previous exposure and experience in data
collection, analysis, and management. - Previous experience in project management or
project coordination - Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and
produce completed products on time. - Excellent verbal and written communication
skills in English. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to
work independently and in interdisciplinary and culturally diverse teams. - Computer literacy i.e. proficiency in
Statistical analytical software such as STATA or SPSS - Ability and capability to manage professional
relationships, working in a complex, intercultural and highly dynamic
working environment
