Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will coordinate the YIA
implementation in Kabarole District in line with the country and global
Education for Youth Empowerment (EYE) strategy; will oversee youth selection,
training and transition into education and livelihoods opportunities including
support to partnership and collaboration with the local government in relation
to out of school youth literacy and livelihoods empowerment. The incumbent may
be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of
humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the Children
    Project Coordinator YIA employment opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree
    in social work, education, development studies or Entrepreneurship.
  • At least four years’ experience working with
    an International NGO directly implementing with a coordination or team
    leadership role
  • Previous exposure and experience working with
    local partners and District Local Government in livelihoods,
    entrepreneurship and vocational education programming
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Past exposure and experience of working with
    local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
    Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
    advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive
    collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation
    skills are a must.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an international environment with people from
    diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management
    or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication
    skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning
    capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Proven ability to speak the local language
    (Runyakitara) and directly interact with the target group will be an added
    advantage
