Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of the development of annual and
    quarterly implementation/procurement plan and budget
  • The jobholder will manage the project budget
    effectively making sure it is periodically reviewed and updated and that
    there is value for money on all project expenditures.
  • Implement the WASH strategy, including a
    capacity development component for water and sanitation use among the
    schools in the Project Area.
  • The incumbent will implement the WASH sensitization
    and advocacy campaigns.
  • Ensure adequate community and local
    government consultation and participation at all stages of the project
    implementation.
  • Ensure integration with other Plan WASH
    projects in district to leverage on supply chains developed to ease access
    to spare parts.
  • Build and strengthen appropriate working
    relationships with government service providers for sustainability.
  • Prepare and share quality and timely project
    reports as per donor requirements and the project monitoring and
    evaluation plan.
  • Ensure all project documentation is well
    filed and organised for accountability purposes.
  • Ensure project learning’s and achievements
    are documented and disseminated widely.
  • Plan for and effectively manage the project risks
    making sure they are constantly assessed and reported on.
  • Child protection policy (CPP) Responsibilities: Ensure
    that the signed CPP acknowledgement and informed consent forms are
    preserved for future reference.
  • Sponsorship: Ensure use of sponsorship data
    gathered from the annual interviews / consultations with sponsored
    children to improve programs at national level to inform design of new
    interventions in Plan International Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Plan
    International Project Coordinator WASH  should hold a degree in Social Sciences
    or any related field. Post-graduate training in Project Management or
    certificate is of added advantage
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in water
    supply and sanitation delivery in development context specifically with
    institutions
  • Working knowledge of Ugandan WASH sector
    guidelines/standards on rural water supply development and the Operation
    and Maintenance Framework.
  • Working knowledge of WASH in school minimum
    standards.
  • Knowledge of sanitation promotion approaches
    including School led Total Sanitation, Child to Child and Menstrual
    Hygiene Management.
  • Working knowledge of WASH governance issues
    on Operation and Maintenance of Water facilities for sustainability.
  • Broad knowledge and awareness of the
    importance of integration of water supply, sanitation and hygiene in
    development.
  • Working knowledge on tackling Inequality and
    exclusion and child rights programming.
  • Proven abilities in planning, budgeting and
    reporting.
  • Good partnership management and relationship
    building skills
  • Hands on experience in managing of Water
    source construction and latrine construction particularly borehole and
    lined latrine technology.
  • Skills in monitoring and Evaluation of WASH
    programmes.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and
    communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse
    cultures, ability to lead and motivate people to work in teams.
  • Computers skills in MS Office and Internet.
  • Seen as a source of expertise in his/her
    field.
  • Promotes high performance among project staff
    and provides vision and direction.
  • Establishes effective partnership with
    external organizations.
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in
    writing.
