of 2015, BiD Network launched a for-profit BDS-service to help SMEs to
accelerate growth, and as part of that, access finance. The service is designed
to close the gap between our network’s angel investor demands/quality
requirements on the one hand and the maturity of businesses in our network on
the other hand. Our Business
Development Support is unique as it offers one-to-one support tailored to the
particular needs of each SME. Our BDS team is composed of seasoned
entrepreneurs, impact investors, finance and marketing experts that have track
record in taking businesses to the next level.
Investors matching with the SME characteristics are engaged right from
the start, to increase the depth of support and to increase the chances of
closing a deal.

Job Summary: The Operations Expert & Business
Consultant will be responsible for supporting our clients in optimizing their
internal processes and supply chain. Furthermore, the operations expert &
business consultant will also assist the Regional Director in sourcing and
selecting businesses for the BDS program and in setting up the local office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keenly analyze the business processes of our
clients, identify areas of improvement and propose solutions; - Prepare and lead workshops with our clients
around process and supply chain optimization; - Support our clients in implementing the
proposed solutions; - Provide training to the staff of our clients
in the area of process and supply chain management; - The incumbent will assess business plans;
- Assess the suitability of a business and its
entrepreneurs for our BDS program; - The incumbent will deputize the Regional
Director in administrative tasks; - Managing relations with partners;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold a University
degree, preferably in economics, business administration, supply chain
management, finance; - At least three years of working experience in
management consultancy and/or operational experience within a mid-sized
company; - Broad knowledge and understanding of the
investment worthiness of local business opportunities, with excellent
understanding of the Ugandan financial, regulatory and operational
environment; - Proven experience with business consultancy
and training; - Technical skills in process improvement and
supply chain management; - Possess a natural ability to network and
connect; - Organized and a structured way of working
- Entrepreneurial and energetic;
- Result-oriented and tenacious in achieving
targets; - Able to work independently and also an active
team player; - Strong in giving and receiving feedback;
- Creative in the conception of alternative
solutions; - Fluent in English (verbally and written).
