About URC SUSTAIN Project:
University
Research Co., LLC (URC) is implementing the USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s
Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project. The project supports
delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and laboratory services at
selected regional referral and general hospitals.
Job Summary: The Laboratory Services Strengthening Advisor will
work closely with the relevant departments of the MOH, CPHL and AIDS Control
Program (ACP), respective regional referral and general hospitals, as well as
district health teams and other HIV program implementing partners to plan for
and provide the required support to strengthen capacity of public health
facility laboratories, as per the Uganda Ministry of Health and USAID/SUSTAIN
project strategies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree in Laboratory Science or equivalent degree qualification.
    Possession of additional post-graduate qualifications/training will be of
    added advantage;
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrable
    practical experience with managing HIV laboratory programs, specifically
    planning for and delivering of laboratory services within the context of
    MOH and PEPFAR programs in the country.;
  • Possess a Valid registration certificate from
    the Uganda Medical and Dental practitioners Council;
  • Working knowledge in quality improvement
    approaches;
  • Excellent written and oral communication and
    interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency with
    Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and others).
