About Trachoma Project:
CCP
is working with the Carter Center and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
partners on the Trust Trachoma Project to revise content and illustrations on
existing VHT cards. The VHT cards will be reorganized into flip chart format
which will be used to facilitate community education activities promoting
Trachoma prevention and hand washing by WASH partners in Busoga and Karamoja
regions of Uganda. Illustrations will be adapted to the social context of the
target communities in Busoga and Karamoja.
Job Summary: The Translator for Trachoma prevention flipchart
will support the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP)Trachoma
prevention flipchart from English to Karimojong (Bokora dialect). The
translation of the flip chart is intended to support community education agents
to communicate easily with community members in Karamoja region on trachoma
prevention behaviors and practices. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Review and translate content of the flip
    chart into Karamoja (Bokora dialect.)
  • Submit translated content to CCP for review.
  • Make revisions to the translations to
    incorporate CCP comments.
  • Re-submit revised translated content (soft
    copies) to CCP.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Diploma
    or bachelor degree in mass communication, education and or related field.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience
    translating community education or related materials from English to (Ngakarimojong
    in particular).
  • Ability to read and write (Ngakarimojong in
    particular)  is a key
    requirement. 
  • Previous experience in development of health
    communication materials for communities in Uganda an added advantage.
Remuneration: CCP will pay a daily rate commensurate with past
income history.  The duration of the task
will not exceed 14 days.  All other
expenses associated with the scope of work will be the responsibility of the
consultant. This assignment will take place between March 2016 and April 10th
2016.
