January 2014, UNICEF set up a cross-sectoral Global Innovation Centre. The
vision of the newly established Global Innovation Centre is enabling
exponential change in reducing inequities and achieving programme effectiveness
and results for children. It focuses on innovations that benefit the most
deprived people, and the areas with the highest level of inequity, specifically
focusing on technologies, tools and solutions that can be deployed and used in
remote areas and by people who do not have access to feature technology.
UNICEF’s Innovation Centre focuses on development and global scale of generic
solutions, and in close collaboration with UNICEF Country Offices supports the
set-up and roll-out of those innovations, specifically in the following main
areas:

to information and quality education. - Youth engagement: Scale-up of U-Report and
partnerships to promote youth engagement
Job Summary: The Global Product Manager – Real Time Information
Portfolio will provide product related support towards the further development
and global roll-out of Innovations in the UNICEF. The consultant will oversee
and manage the Real Time Information Portfolio, support the further technical
development of RapidPro and other globally-supported innovations. Furthermore, the
consultant will also support the identification, conceptualization and
prototyping of new innovations based on new technologies and the needs of
UNICEF programs. As the Global Product Manager – Real Time Information
Portfolio, the consultant will therefore need to work with multiple projects,
partners, vendors and ongoing plus new initiatives simultaneously.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Establish narrative and scale up strategy and
roadmaps for ongoing plus new real time information tools, including
RapidPro, U-Report, EduTrac/TracPro, ChatPro, EUMS.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the United Nations
UNICEF Global Product Manager – Real Time Information Portfolio should
hold an Advanced degree in a relevant field which includes but is not
limited to social sciences, humanities, technology, public administration,
public health, data sciences, business administration; related practical
experience will be considered - A minimum of seven years of
professional technical experience and proven experience in translating
complex ideas from various fields into unified, clear guidance. - Previous exposure and experience with
technology related projects in a development context and/or the UN - Demonstrated skills in training,
management, and strategic thinking - Proven ability to conceptualize,
plan, and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills - Previous exposure and experience managing
external software vendors - Previous experience writing technical
contracts - Experience writing technical
documentation - Prior exposure and experience with
managing RapidPro, RapidSMS or similar systems - Previous experience with coordinating
mobile-based systems - Familiarity with open-source
technology, design and development processes. - Excellent written and verbal
communication skills. - Prior experience with processing
large amount of information and synthesizing it. - Ability to work in a distributed
team. - Ability to work independently, strong
self-management skills. - Demonstrated ability to work in a
diverse, multi-cultural and multi-national environment - Fluency in English.
