Grows is a non-profit international agriculture organization whose mission is
to improve the socio-economic conditions of farmers in Eastern Uganda. The
organization operates an agricultural center at Iki Iki, Budaka District,
Uganda, where they are involved in self-sustaining enterprises. In addition,
the organization works closely with farmer groups to enhance and improve their
production, post0harvest handling techniques and market access.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will be responsible for the overall
functioning of the Agriculture Center operations - The job holder will lead employees
- Manage the livestock, greenhouse and office
personnel - Responsible for grant proposal design and
composition - Organize field days & exhibitions for
participants of Uganda Grows - Develop work plans & budgets for approval
of Board of Directors - Organize group training in liaison with
technical personnel at District or elsewhere depending on expertise
required - Build and maintain good working relationships
with Farmer Groups, partners and government extension services - Render support in planning and design of
participatory approaches with Farmer Groups selected to liaise with Uganda
Grows - Collect and record data from Farmer Group
demographics, previous harvest data and collect and record data from
Farmer Group for initial planting season under the agreed upon arrangement
- Maintain and analyze Farmer Group data base
for interpretation to Board of Directors - Actively participate in identification and
promotion of improved input supplies - Actively participate in identifying improved
technologies/plans for handling and storage - Participate in identifying premium market
situations for crops identified by the Board of Directors
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Agriculture or similar degree - One year of experience working with farming
enterprises as salaried employee or as a graduate student - Excellent writing, communication and
interpersonal skills - Proven ability to work independently,
implementing work agenda with minimum supervision - Computer literate with good knowledge of MS
Office application - High self-motivation and willingness to
support others in multidisciplinary teams - Knowledge and skill in farmer participatory
learning
