Job Summary: The Engineering Assistant will oversee and
regularly monitor the technical aspects of drilling works ensuring quality
implementation of water supply and sanitation projects in line with the
standards addressing the particular response. The incumbent will also play a
focal role in the implementation of the Sanitation and Hygiene activities at
the grass root. He/ She will be required to participate in the daily
implementation of the above components of the WASH project, providing an
insight into cultural sensitivity and thoroughness of communication to
beneficiary community, as well as assisting to see that the activities are
implemented in an all in all inclusive, timely and participatory manner.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine verification/ assessment of
Water situation in villages - Guide the community in expression of water
needs to the responsible authorities - Carry out community mobilization to
participate in water development (drilling) to ensure ownership of these
facilities - Supervise and monitor the technical aspects
of drilling works ensuring quality implementation of water supply and
sanitation projects in line with the standards addressing the particular
response. - Actively facilitate formation and training of
WASH Committees - Carry out routine monitoring of WASH
facilities put in place by the project - Take part in routine water quality
surveillance and testing and train stakeholders on CLTS And PHAST - Work closely with the District Extension
Staff, identify villages with Sanitation needs - Work in liaison with the PM & PC and
district extension staff to mobilize
communities initiate CLTS/ PHAST approaches and conduct follow up in the
identified villages - Gather/ collect WASH related information
vital for project intervention - Support WASH Project activities in Sub-county
i.e Child-to-Child approach, SMC/ PTA trainings, etc
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Work Vision Engineering
Assistant career opportunity should hold a Higher Diploma in Civil/Water
Engineering or a University Degree in Water or Civil Engineering.
Possession of a Post Graduate Qualification in a relevant field is an
added advantage. - A minimum of three years of previous
experience in Water & Sanitation projects supervision, Designs and
Construction Works supervision with an INGO. - Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and
GPS mapping software is an added advantage. - Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to ride a Motorcycle with a
clean permit
