About UPMB:
The
Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) was founded in 1957 as a registered
faith based Non-Governmental Organization under the Trustees Incorporation Act
(CAP 165) as Registered Trustees of the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau. UPMB
brings together Protestant Churches in Uganda involved in Provision of Health
Services. It serves as a link between Government and / or Development Partners
and UPMB-Member Institutions and provides support to its members through
capacity strengthening, coordination, lobbying and Advocacy, public relations
and translation of government policies.
Job Summary: The Community Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC)
Officer will manage community and OVC project activities to ensure project
quality, provide technical assistance in all areas of program implementation at
UPMB facilities and ensure timely and high-quality reports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support UPMB with organizational development
    through tailored skill building and training in aspects of project
    implementation and any, technical issues concerning with orphans and
    vulnerable children and HIV/AIDS.
  • Stay abreast with innovative approaches
    within Uganda and the region in OVC community-based care, counseling, and
    social support
  • The jobholder will support UPMB with
    organizational development through tailored skill building and training in
    aspects of project implementation and any, technical issues concerning
    with orphans and vulnerable children and HIV/AIDS.
  • Work closely with UPMB partners and
    Programming Department, conceptualize new project concepts and write
    proposals to secure funding from diverse private sources.
  • Build and create linkages with OVC partners
    in advocating for better services for vulnerable and orphaned children
  • Actively participate in the design of
    participatory evaluation processes with partners.
  • Represent the UPMB at project-related
    meetings and conferences as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should ideally hold a
    bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Management,
    Public Health, or other relevant field.
  • At least three years of professional
    experience in management of OVC projects.
  • Previous experience in home/community-based
    care, human rights or orphan response is an added advantage.
  • Broad working knowledge of project design and
    proposal development.
  • Effective time management, high level of
    integrity, ability to work with minimum supervision, good interpersonal
    and teamwork skills.
