clients in Uganda. The company is an international logistics and transportation
company with operations in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Sales Responsibility (Area
of Sales, target client market)
  • Grow the value of the company’s customer base
    in every financial period and ensure total customer satisfaction on
    service delivery, information provision and issue resolution.
  • Prepare forecasts of meetings with clients {using
    sales call planners} and present weekly achievement reports to the Country
    manager. Weekly sales reports to be submitted within allotted timelines.
  • Follow up on previous weeks quotations with a
    view to ensuring ALL quotations sent are followed up within 1 week.
  • Ensure a minimum of 15 planned sales calls a
    week, unless otherwise advised / agreed upon with Country manager.
  • Initiate customer contacts and generate new
    local business, whilst also migrating ad hoc customers into permanent,
    long-term customers through the delivery of superior customer service.
  • Identify a regional customer base that
    encompasses companies operating within the various Group company offices.
2. Marketing
Responsibilities (Duties to promote the company’s brand / Products & Services)
  • Work closely with the Country manager in
    setting up and mapping out the Uganda marketing strategy.
  • Maintain cordial and favorable relations with
    all company’s UG suppliers to ensure preferred supplier service as well as
    rates.
  • Address customer issues and ensure overall
    customer satisfaction, by ensuring regular customer service visits, with
    follow up reports.
  • Be part of the company’s UG team that
    identifies the ideal commercial strategy for the station as a whole.
3. Service
Responsibilities.
  • Communication with potential customer base to
    achieve understanding of their requirements, patterns and freight
    opportunities.
  • Pre-shipment communication with clients in
    preparation for takeover by operations team.
  • Update and follow up with customers,
    particularly new and ad hoc customers, upon pick up, uplift, arrival
    clearance and delivery of shipments both locally and at point of
    destination.
  • Address customer issues and ensure overall
    customer satisfaction, by ensuring regular customer service visits, with
    follow up reports.
  • Prompt intervention whenever serious customer
    issues arise. This should also include the objective and regular use of
    NCRs to ensure continual service improvement.
  • Periodical customer service surveys carried
    out and a report submitted to the Country manager every 3 months.
4. Other Responsibilities
  • Strictly adhere to the agreed administrative
    SOP.
  • Primarily responsible for the accurate
    preparation, maintenance, and updating {by liaising with operations – 5th
    of each month} of rates.
  • Provision of the applicable buy/sell rates
    for each shipment to finance in a timely manner.
  • Adequate preparation for meetings {using call
    planner} to be made including an agenda / ready with all necessary
    information etc.
  • Escalation to Country manager for
    intervention whenever serious customer issues arise. This includes service
    issues / responses from global partners.
5. Targets/Expectations
  • Minimum 1 new customer per week.
  • Minimum Net revenue per month $100,000.00
  • Versatility in ‘opening up’ 1 or more
    different trade lanes per month.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should ideally hold a Degree in
    business, logistics or transportation-related field preferred
  • Five years of experience with freight
    solution sales, marketing and customer service required
  • Previous experience working in a
    deadline-driven environment preferred
  • Motivated by a sense of urgency, a will to
    win, and a talent for negotiating
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal
    communication skills
