About US:
The
Public Service Commission was established under the provisions of Article
165(1) of the 1995 Constitution. The Public Service Commission has a mission “To
provide Government with employees of the right caliber, in right numbers,
placed in the right jobs at the right time.”
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In charge of guiding government departments
    on specifications for vehicles and machinery for procurement and assist in
    evaluation of bids;
  • Responsible for testing and evaluating new
    models of vehicles for government use;
  • In charge of inspecting and assessing the
    condition of government vehicles/equipment as requested
  • Inspecting and assessing the private
    garages/workshops that repair government vehicles, equipment, etc.;
  • Assisting transport officers of government
    departments in coming out with an impeccable system through which their
    vehicles/equipment would be repaired/maintained in the private
    garages/workshops;
  • In charge of inspecting and evaluating
    vehicles and machinery for procurement by government;
  • Managing and maintaining government vehicle
    registry that covers both the central and local governments;
  • Updating the government vehicle registry and
    generate status reports on government fleets;
  • Carrying out competence test for drivers of
    government vehicles;
  • In charge of inspecting and evaluating
    vehicles and machinery for the public for tax assessment or arbitration
    purposes;
  • Ensuring safe custody of both new and deregistered
    vehicle number plates;
  • Responsible for inspecting and analyzing
    newly fabricated motorable/towable road units for safety and conformity to
    standards for onward registration and usage;
  • Supervising and ensuring occupational safety
    and health regulations are observed;
  • Assisting in generating the sub-division
    reports;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned
    from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants should be Ugandans holding an
    Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural
    Engineering or any related field from a recognized University
    /Institution; Possession of a Post Graduate qualification in Civil
    Engineering will be an added advantage;
  • The applicant must preferably hold valid registration
    as a Civil Engineer with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB)
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ working
    experience as Engineer in Government or equivalent level of experience
    from a reputable Organization.
  • Age: Above 25 years

forms should bear the title of the post followed by the Reference Number
specified against the vacancy. The appropriate Advert Title e.g. “PSC External
Advert. No. 1/2016” should be indicated in capital letters on the top of each
first page of the Public Service Form No. 3 (2008). Applicants should attach
three sets of photocopies of their certificates and testimonials. Applicants
subsequently shortlisted for oral interviews shall be required to present
certified copies and originals of their academic transcripts and certificates
at the time of sitting the Oral Interviews and their names will be shown on the
