Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization
which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists.
The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong
emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI
has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:
Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services
(provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins
University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Diseases Institute (IDI) received funding from Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC)/PEPFAR to implement a comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the
mid-western Uganda Districts of Kiboga, Kibaale, Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Masindi,
Buliisa and Kiryandongo. The project is called “Accelerating Comprehensive
HIV/AIDS Service Delivery through Health System Capacity Building and Technical
Assistance of District Health Teams and Health Facilities in Western and West
Nile Regions in the Republic of Uganda under PEPFAR.”
assistance to the West Nile project in the area of clinical and laboratory
quality improvement and assurance. The incumbent will also support activities
which evaluate and document quality improvement and compliance with local and
international standards of services.
- In charge of managing quality improvement and
assurance plans at various levels in West Nile region. - Render support in conducting capacity
building and technical assistance initiatives for quality improvement and
assurance. - Guide quality improvement and assurance team
meetings and specialty training sessions. - In charge of the review of quality
improvement and assurance review findings, and formulate recommendations
to improve the quality of local standards of care. - Works in liaison with the Ministry of Health,
CDC and other stakeholders to continuously document and improve
implementation of quality improvement and assurance processes for People
Living with HIV. - Coordinate trainings and on site mentorships
on quality improvement and assurance. - Mentor technical support teams (TSTs) to
support the health workers integrate quality improvement and assurances
within the health care services for people living with HIV. - Prepare and submit required reports in regard
to quality improvement and assurance - Perform any other duties as may reasonably be
assigned from time to time by the Quality Assurance Officer.
- The applicants should at least hold a Diploma
in Clinical Medicine - Specialized training in HIV/AIDS
- Active registration with the Allied Health
professionals’ Council - A minimum of three years’ experience in
implementing quality improvement and assurance in HIV/AIDS health care. - Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills. - Broad working knowledge and experience in
clinical HIV/AIDS with emphasis on planning and implementation of quality
assurance in public health care settings. - Good working knowledge of HIV/AIDS public
health programs, strategies, methods, processes and techniques used to
plan, develop, implement and evaluate results related to quality
improvement. - Working knowledge of US Government
programming policies and regulations, procedures and practices.
