Job Summary: The Senior Officer, MNH plays a focal role in providing technical
support, coordination and supervision of all maternal health and HBB+ related
programming at the district and facility level. This includes leading the
coordination and implementation of project activities including district based
trainings/ refresher trainings, mentorship and supervision of trained
providers, with the programme coordinator and support the M&E lead in data
collection and reporting at the district level, and district level review
meetings to review program implementation, reflect on data collected at the
district level and ensure data is being used by providers to support program
decision. The jobholder may also be called upon as and when necessary to
provide support in humanitarian responses.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Save the Children
Senior Officer, MNH job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Nursing, Public Health or Clinical officer is preferred. - A minimum of three years’ experience in
health/public health and or in a health/public health organization,
including experience as a national level trainer/technical assistance
provider in the area of RH/MCH with Government of Uganda or an
International NGO. - Significant exposure and experience in
facilitating training and in developing materials including mentorship and
support supervision tools and providing institutional support and
technical assistance to decentralization and or NGOs on issues related to
RH/MNCH service provision; - Previous experience in RH/maternal newborn
and child health programming including facility and community based health
service improvement is essential; - Broad knowledge and understanding of
Government policies on RH/MNCH issues and how to contribute to their
development with political analysis skills, sensitivity and diplomacy. - Significant experience in research methods,
data collection and analysis. - Prior exposure and experience working with
the Local Government, and local partners with focus on improving the
learning environments is an added advantage. - Past exposure and experience of working with
local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
advantage. - Excellent analytical skills and strategic
planning abilities. - Ability to establish and maintain conducive
collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team. - Computer literacy and excellent documentation
skills are a must. - Willingness to travel and work in
hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed cultural awareness and
ability to work well in an international environment with people from
diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Ability to intervene with crisis management
or troubleshooting as necessary. - Exceptional interpersonal and communication
skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching. - Excellent time management and planning
capacity. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses.
