established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU
is actively involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement
of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and
in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of
Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health
(HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation
& Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management
and Governance systems.
Job Summary: The Education Officer will be responsible for planning,
directing, coordinating the implementation of all planned activities for Education
support and promote easy access of Education for Refugee children in schools.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for strengthening partnerships
    with stakeholders; education departments, parents, institutions of
    learning, and communities.
  • Plan, implement and coordinate all education
    activities at the program
  • Mobilize and sensitize  refugee parents in  refugee community to take children to
    public schools
  • Offer support to refugee children access
    primary education in UPE and USE schools
  • Actively participate in raising awareness
    among refugee communities on the right to education for refugee children.
  • Participate in identifying education
    opportunities and coming up with fundable proposals for education
    activities for refugee children and host community.
  • Work closely with Legal, Child protection and
    SGBV sectors to promote identification and support to vulnerable children.
  • Organize and conduct individual and group
    counseling sessions to children in UPE and USE schools within in Kampala.
  • Assess and identify support for UPE and USE
    schools
  • Assess and identify vulnerable children for
    support of UPE and USE school fees.
  • Implement the good school programme
  • Responsible for timely reporting 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
    in Education, psychology, development studies, social sciences or any
    other related discipline
  • Possession of post graduate qualification is
    an added advantage.
  • At least five years’ relevant work
    experience.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the
    Ugandan Education system
  • Ability to understand and interpret the
    current education policy of Uganda and properly align it to the refugee
    communities
