behalf of German Development Cooperation, the GIZ Reform of the Urban Water and
Sanitation Sector P’Wramme (RUWASS) supports the Ministry of Water and
Environment (MWE) and other public actors in their efforts towards an improved
and more equitable access to sustainable water supply and sanitation as well as
improved water resources management in Uganda. GIZ also implements the
International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) in Uganda, on behalf of the
German Development Cooperation and the British Department for International
Development (DFID). IWaSP brings together governments, businesses, and the
civil society to pool resources to tackle water resource challenges.
(M&E) Officer will provide support in the implementation of IWaSP
Partnerships in Uganda. Furthermore, the position will support the monitoring
and evaluation of both the Karamoja project and the IWaSP programme in Uganda.
implementation of the International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP):
- Support the implementation of all aspects of
partnerships with the private sector, civil society and the relevant
governmental authorities - Support the identification and initiation of
new cooperation opportunities with the private sector - The incumbent will guide on gender activities
in the thematic area of Water Stewardship - Support knowledge management as .well as good
public relations and documentation, both in Uganda and in cooperation with
GIZ Headquarters - Carry out administrative tasks.
evaluation (M&E) and reporting activities for IWaSP and the water resources
project in Karamoja:
- Suggest and implement appropriate monitoring
frameworks, data collection and analysis methods - Lead and implement reporting processes, such
as regular project updates and annual reports, including field visits - Set up and maintain a digital archiving
system of all data and information related to M&E activities - Improve gathering and use of both qualitative
and qualitative data, e.g. through use of case studies
- The applicant should ideally hold a University
education (minimum Master’s degree) in technical sciences / engineering
(water/water resources management/ environment/natural resources), social
sciences or related field - A minimum of three years of relevant
professional working experience, strong M&E skills - Previous exposure and experience in working
for Non-Governmental Organisations, International Organizations and/or
Donor Agencies - Excellent organisational and analytical
skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal
supervision - Previous experience with donor reporting,
especially DFID, is an asset - Previous experience in working with
Government agencies or local government is an asset - Strong computer skills (e.g. MS Office,
databases) - Ability to effectively transfer skills and
knowledge - Openness to share information and knowledge
(‘‘communicator”) - Team player in multi-cultural and
inter-disciplinary team - Excellent written and oral English skills,
knowledge of German is an advantage - Ability to travel frequently to different
regions within Uganda
